We’ve updated the e-book of Frightful Disaster! on Google Books and Google Play to incorporate a few minor corrections to the print edition. Print edition owners or purchasers can note the following changes.
The following items were already corrected in the e-book version:
page 46. Typo corrected. Clarence Moberly served as chief engineer of the Northern Railway from 1863 to 1873 (not to 1863).
page 334. Salvage operations led by Jack Morris began in 1958 (not 1858).
The following changes have been made to Chapter 27 in the latest e-book version:
At the time of publication, it was unclear if drawings of wreckage in the collection of the West Parry Sound District Museum were made by or overseen by Ernst Born. The author has since confirmed with his daughter, Nahanni Born, that the drawings are by him, and references are altered accordingly on page 334 and in the caption for Figs. 27.5 to 27.7.
page 338. Reference to the walking beam having been displayed on Fryingpan Island is incorrect and has been removed.
Fig. 27.3. The photo of salvaged artifacts was sourced from a collection of Waubuno materials at the West Parry Sound District Museum. The author has since confirmed however that according to photos in the Ernst Born collection at the Huronia Museum, the image is of materials salvaged by Born near Tobermory and displayed at the Tobermory net shed of fisherman Orrie Vail in 1962. The photo has been replaced with the one below of Jack Morris salvaging the Waubuno‘s anchor, from the Ernst Born collection at the Huronia Museum. The image credit on page 362 has been changed accordingly to “Ernst Born photo collection, Huronia Museum.”
